Summit of Nangersang Peak Everest and Nuptse from Kala Pattar Kantega Approaching Pumori along Khumbu Glacier

Everest Base Camp

17 days, Grade C

An unforgettable trek to the foot of the world's highest mountain. This is a chance to follow in the footsteps of Sir Edmund Hilary and Sherpa Tanzing. Leaving Lukla we follow the Dudh Kosi River up to Namche Bazaar with spectacular bridges along the way. The stunning scenes from the view point here at the Sherpa capital will rival any place in the world. The trail then carries on following the Dudh Koshi up to Tengboche with the monastery situated majestically on the ridge above the valley looking up to Mt Everest - known locally as Sagarmatha, "the mother goddess of the snows". Traditionally, climbers stop here to be blessed at the monastery for success on Everest. Two days at Dingboche exploring the Chukung Valley and an optional climb of Nangertsang peak will help acclimatise and prepare us for our onward trek to the ultimate destinations of Base Camp and Kala Patthar. This is a thoughtful itinerary giving you two acclimatising stops to allow your body to adapt and therefore help you achieve your goal of base camp.

In Kathmandu you will also have the chance to visit the most sacred Hindu and Buddhist pilgrimage sites and walk amongst temple complexes in the ancient capital city of Bhaktapur. click here to download trip notes >>
